Inconsistencies in the CBD content of many commercial products. What are they like?
CBD hemp and products made from it are constantly hotly debated topics. According to the latest information, researchers from North-West University in South Africa recently tested the cannabidiol content of many commercially sold products, finding discrepancies between the actual and stated amounts of CBD on the packaging of these products. What specific products were they? And what does this finding mean for us?
One of the main problems associated with hemp-containing products cannabidiol is an unregulated market. So no one supervises whether the stated amount of CBD corresponds to reality. Unfortunately, this does not only apply to CBD, but also to HHC products, kratom and other natural substances. Scientists from South Africa, who decided to test the products, decided to shed light on this problem. Here are the results!
Quality and CBD content of products
In general, the quality and content of CBD in commercially sold products can be affected by several factors, and it:
- Method of extraction: Different extraction methods can have different effects on the final CBD content and the presence of other substances. CO2 extraction, which we also use for production, is considered to be the most modern method.
- Plant origin: The quality of the hemp and the soil on which the plant grows can affect the content of CBD and other substances in the extract. In the same way, it can be absolutely essential what fertilizers were used during cultivation. Whether it was organic or chemical substrates.
- Laboratory testing: Companies should conduct independent laboratory testing of their products to ensure the maximum accuracy of the listed content information.
Testing the quality of commercially sold CBD
We promised you the specific results of the study, so let's take a look at them together.
- As part of the testing, a total was put to the test 16 hemp products. During the process, it was found that the product with the highest claimed content of cannabidiol mand 98% less cannabidiol, than the stated concentration. Another product from the same manufacturer, labeled as "CBD essential oil blends", did not show detectable levels of CBD when measured.
- Only 3 of 16 products were correctly marked in this category. Over-labeling was observed in eight products and under-labeling in one product. Furthermore, products that did not list the concentration of cannabidiol on the labels were found to have no detectable amount CBD.
- The study also shows that in the case of the natural CBD face mask product, the actual proportion of anti-aging ingredients is 98% less than what is stated on the product label.
- The absolute "shock" came when CBD oil with a declared content of 10 mg had no cannabidiol detectable at all!
- Product marketed as CBD lip balm (no mention of cannabidiol concentration on the label as well). did not show detectable levels of cannabidiol.
Quality study results
The result of this study is the finding that a significant proportion of hemp products containing cannabidiol in South Africa have misleading information on the labels about the concentration of CBD and its effects. Information obtained reflect a significant deficiency in quality control measures. Only three hemp products contained CBD within ±10% according to their labeling. This underlines the lax approach of manufacturers and sellers as well as the erosion of customer confidence in the quality of these products.

Always buy exclusively from reputable sellers who guarantee the honest composition of the products, including the content of CBD or other cannabinoids. Unfair practices are unfortunately no stranger to some Czech or Slovak cannabis dealers, so pay enough attention to your selection. Only then are you sure that your body really gets what it deserves.
