HHC vs THC: How do they differ?

Why is it about hemp-based products these days? HHC enormous interest? What is the difference between HHC flowers and marijuana containing the psychoactive substance THC? We will answer that in today's article.

Over a hundred different compounds, which we call cannabinoids, have so far been discovered in the cannabis plant. The most famous of them is THC, about which a lot has already been said and is well known to everyone. However, this is not the case with HHC, which is becoming more and more popular in the cannabinoid world, but the general public still has minimal information about its properties and effects.

Cannabis in general

The history of one of the oldest cultivated plants, i.e. cannabis, dates back to the Stone Age, in which shamans used it for various spiritual ceremonies and ceremonies. As time went on, people also began to discover the medicinal potential of cannabis. People first started using this plant to treat malaria, constipation or rheumatism.

If we look at the morphology of the plant, we will find that it is a dioecious plant, therefore we will find the male and female reproductive organs separately on a different plant. Cannabinoids are substances naturally occurring in the flowers of male cannabis plants, and these are precisely the active substances contained in this plant. The main cannabinoids include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol
(CBD), cannabinol (CBN), cannabichromene (CBC) and, last but not least, hexahydrocannabinol (HHC).

Cannabis flowers with THC

The highest representation of cannabinoids in the illegal form of the cannabis plant is undoubtedly tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). However, this first place is not the only one. THC is the most potent of the cannabis compounds, and in its pure form is highly hallucinogenic. This is also the reason for setting legal standards for THC content in products so that they can be completely legal.

When describing THC, we should certainly not forget its analgesic effects. It is a very effective fighter against chronic pain and many serious diseases. For patients currently undergoing chemotherapy, it can effectively relieve the feeling of nausea by increasing the appetite.

HHC flowers

Hexahydrocannabinol, abbreviated as HHC, is a compound naturally occurring in trace amounts in the cannabis plant. For use in hemp products, CBD must therefore be hydrogenated, subsequently creating HHC with a sufficient concentration for use. Next, hydrogen atoms are added to the CBD and this gives us HHC.

It was first synthesized by Roger Adams in 1944. Catalysts are used to produce HHC, in which THC is coated with hydrogen ions under high pressure. This procedure ensures the formation of semi-synthetic HHC. This is a rather demanding process, at the end of which stands the massive production of HHC flowers. It is the amount of HHC produced that is met with some skepticism, due to the amount sold, which is completely disproportionate to its prevalence in nature.

HHC vs THC flowers

Compared to THC they are HHC flowers a far less explored area, but even so, the basic properties and differences between these cannabis substances are already known. Although they are chemically different compounds, they are very similar in many ways.

For example, it is about inducing a feeling of euphoria and happiness, increasing energy, body temperature and heart rate. However, users of HHC cannabis describe the effects as more relaxing than stimulating and also describe altered auditory and visual sensations. This effect lasts about three hours after ingestion, but it depends on the amount of HHC used, its form and how your body can process it.

In addition to cannabis flowers, we can find HHC on the market in other substances such as, for example HHC candies, HHC pen and other similar products.

Effects of HHC

Users describe the potential HHC Cannabis as stronger and also describe a longer period of tolerance to this compound. Smaller doses with gradual increases over a longer period of time should therefore be sufficient to achieve the effect. Both substances (THC and HHC) offer the user many therapeutic effects in addition to recreational effects. Here is a short list.

HHC can help in the following ways:
• Anti-inflammatory effect
• Relief from chronic pain
• Help with stress and depression
• Improving sleep
• Increased appetite with nausea

THC and its possible therapeutic effects:
• Reduction of chronic pain
• Glaucoma treatment
• Reduced anxiety (at an increased dose, it can cause anxiety on the contrary)
• Reduction of muscle spasticity
• Better sleep
• Reduction of nausea

HHC and drug test

According to anecdotal sources, HHC should not show up on a drug test. HHC flowers are relatively new to the market, so there isn't much research yet. However, it is currently known that HHC does not metabolize to 11-hydroxy-THC, which is the metabolite behind a positive drug test for THC.

So whether you decide on products with HHC content or choose CBD products for example, you can't go wrong. All you have to do is follow the recommended dosage, i.e. start with smaller doses and gradually increase the doses according to how your body will react. We believe that we have explained at least the basic differences to you, so that you can choose a product tailored to you.
