Hexahydrocannabinol: What forms and effects can HHC take?

Hexahydrocannabinol, known by the acronym HHC, can be found in many hemp products. HHC flowers they will probably attack everyone. But where else can we find HHC content? What are the effects of the cannabis derivative called hexahydrocannabinol?

What is HHC

HHC is an abbreviation for hexahydrocannabinol (in English hexahydrocannabinol), a hemp cannabinoid that generally belongs to the same group of compounds contained in hemp as CBD, CBG, THC and many more. More than 100 cannabinoids have been discovered so far. Like cannabidiol, hexahydrocannabinol HHC occurs naturally in the cannabis plant. Regarding the potential healing and therapeutic effects, here too we find a strong agreement with CBD. Hexahydrocannabinol can have a positive effect on reducing stress, reducing depression and inducing deep relaxation. In addition, thanks to its analgesic properties, it helps soothe pain, relieve stomach upsets, or help people struggling with anorexia.

Discovery of HHC

It is very likely that you are new to HHC or have only heard about it a few months ago. So if you think this is a brand new cannabinoid, then you are only partially right. It is indeed one of the newest cannabis derivatives on the domestic market, of course hexahydrocannabinol as such it was discovered already in 1944! Thanks to hydrogenation (the addition of hydrogen molecules), the American chemist Roger Adams succeeded in converting THC to HHC. Finding out how hydrogenation works is still very beneficial to the food industry, where this chemical process is widely used to harden vegetable fats into margarine, which you can find on store shelves.

The process of obtaining HHC from tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is unfortunately illegal in most countries of the world, as the input raw material with a high content of psychoactive THC does not meet legislative requirements. It is considered a drug. Although hexahydrocannabinol is present in organically grown cannabis plants, it is present in a very low amount, which does not exceed 1% of the herb's weight. Seeds and resin CBD hemp therefore, it will not offer us a sufficient amount of extract with HHC, therefore it is necessary to use the hydrogenation process to convert CBD into HHC. This process is completely legitimate and allows us to obtain almost 100% HHC distillate, which is used to make a variety of Hexahydrocannabinol products, such as HHC pen, cartridge, liquids, HHC candies, flowers and many others.

HHC vs THC

CBD and HHC have a lot in common. However, the most striking difference is that CBD cannabidiol has a purely relaxing and calming effect. Therefore, your senses will not be fooled. The same cannot be said about HHC, as it is a psychoactive compound that can change your perception. The effects of HHC are therefore very similar to those of THC. They are most often manifested by an improvement in mood, which can result in pure euphoria. The effects of HHC are described by many foreign sources as strongly relaxing, but not stimulating as is the case with green or white kratom. However, it must be added that it always depends on many factors, of which the given amount plays a very important role. In general, it could be said about cannabinoids that a low dose can stimulate, while a higher amount causes depression. Kratom also works on a similar principle.

We can read a lot about the positive effects of THC on the body, as it is a well-studied cannabinoid. In the case of HHC, we unfortunately have very little information, as until recently it was a forgotten rather than a popular cannabinoid. We will therefore need more studies to objectively assess the therapeutic potential, however we now know that HHC testing in laboratory rats has shown remarkable pain-relieving effects.

HHC drug test

Hexahydrocannabinol has a legal status in the Czech Republic, therefore you do not face any disciplinary action for its possession or distribution. But what about drug testing? Will HHC show up in a drug test?

This topic is hotly debated and one could say that society is divided into two groups. Some argue that HHC is not the same as THC, so it won't show up on the test. Still others say that hexahydrocannabinol is psychoactive, that is why it must appear on the test. So where is the truth?

Here, of course, many factors depend, the most important of which is the time before which HHC was applied. Another important aspect is the type of testing – whether it is a saliva test or a blood test. The first of the named can be quite inaccurate. THC is generally reported to be detectable in saliva for up to 3 days. However, the absolute most important factor is whether or not the hemp product also contains THC or zero THC! For example, you won't find any THC in HHC gummies or HHC pens, while HHC flowers contain a maximum of 1%. Furthermore, the metabolism of the given individual is decisive, i.e. the speed at which the substances introduced into the body are broken down.

But it is possible that it is only a matter of time before new tests appear that will be able to estimate hexahydrocannabinol. So if you know you're going to be tested, it's best to avoid consuming cannabinoids and other potential intoxicants altogether!

Taking psychoactive cannabinoids or any other narcotic substances significantly affects your reflexes, perception, motor skills and thus also your driving skills. Therefore, after consuming any psychoactive substance, definitely do not sit behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, as you can endanger not only your health, but also the lives of other people. Thank you!

Possible side effects

Of course, HHC consumption is not without risk, so we strongly recommend that everyone avoid it completely. But if we talk about the information obtained from the conducted research, we will find that the security profile HHC is again comparable to THC.

The following side effects can be experienced with high doses of HHC:

  • anxiety
  • dizziness
  • dry mouth
  • red eyes
  • insomnia
  • increased appetite
  • rapid heartbeat
  • paranoia (in rare cases with long-term use of very high doses)

To date, there is no research to support this theory, however, it is believed that HHC use during pregnancy could have a negative effect on the healthy development of the fetus.

HHC products

In the introduction, we told you that hexahydrocannabinol can be found in many other products than just HHC flowers. The vast majority of them come from the distillate, which significantly affects their final quality. Isolated HHC is added to oils and drops. In a professional way, CBD is applied to hemp, from which HHC hashish is subsequently produced. The distilled form of hexahydrocannabinol is found in the very popular HHC pen a HHC cartridge with many tempting aromas.

A synthetic substance from hemp should have the purest possible formulation, as is the case with our HHC products. In the case of low-quality products, the composition may contain residues of solvents from production, as well as heavy metals that got into the hemp thanks to the use of chemical fertilizers. These can be dangerous to health. Because there is no supervisory authority that would sale of HHC and other cannabis products, we recommend that you exercise caution when purchasing and always take an interest in review specific distributor.
