CBD products containing cannabidiol are becoming increasingly popular. For those who haven't encountered anything like this before: CBD is an abbreviation for the active substance that we can find in the organic form of the hemp plant and marijuana. But it is not a drug, because CBD hemp it is not psychoactive. However, scientific research so far shows that CBD can have many medicinal effects.

These include a positive effect on the fight against psychological problems such as anxiety or depression. While studies on this topic are still ongoing, many people already CBD for anxiety using. This is mainly due to the fact that the use of CBD drops and other products from this type of cannabis carries almost no risks. CBD hemp it is not addictive or narcotic and has virtually no side effects. CBD drops for anxiety

Many people claim that CBD drops effectively help in the fight against anxiety. But is this fact factually supported? Is there any research to support this claim? Let's look together at the studies carried out so far and their results.

First, we have a study from 2010 that she observed effects of CBD on people with social anxiety disorder. One half of the participants were given 400 milligrams of CBD, the other only and only a placebo, without suspecting anything. The result is that the group of people who received CBD for the duration of the research actually experienced a significant reduction in anxiety levels.

Studies of CBD on anxiety speak clearly

Another study from 2018 did things a bit differently. The organizers of the research decided to expose the participants to a stressful situation, specifically through public speaking. Before the start, some of them were given 300 milligrams of CBD, while the other half received only a placebo.

What result would you expect? Yes it's right! Subjects administered CBD experienced the blissful effect of reducing anxiety. No change was observed in the rest of the participants.

It should be added that people with anxiety disorders or other mental health problems did not participate in this study. Anxiety was seen as a symptom, not a mental state in which a person is.

Unpleasant feelings of anxiety often accompany difficulties with sleep and falling asleep, because a good mental state and quality sleep are connected vessels. Therefore, research focusing on the effects of CBD oil on people suffering from anxiety and/or insomnia is definitely worth mentioning.

The results are astounding. Reduction of anxiety states occurred in 4 out of 5 participants! This means a coefficient equal to 80% success rate. The quality of sleep improved in 2 out of 3 participants, which clearly indicates that CBD oils they are not only useful for suppressing anxiety, but can also be a very effective aid for better sleep.

From the research to date, it is not yet completely clear why the application of CBD has a positive effect on our mood. However, it is very likely that a substance called serotonin has something to do with it.

Serotonin is a hormone in the body, the level of which depends on our mood. Low serotonin levels cause anxiety or depression. It is speculated that the cannabinoid CBD may interact with it. However, there is still too little research to confirm the claim with certainty.

Forms of using CBD for anxiety

If you are troubled by unpleasant feelings of anxiety, there are several options for delivering the medicinal substance CBD into the body. You will find a wide range of hemp CBD products on the market. These include, for example:

If you use any of the topical preparations from the CBD cosmetics category, only a small amount of the active substance CBD is absorbed into the bloodstream, which means that it is definitely not a suitable method for fighting anxiety. Hemp cosmetics - cannabis with CBD is great for local pain relief, inflammation, or problems with problematic skin. For example, CBD is widely used to treat acne.

The same applies to CBD foods, which could be considered a healthier alternative in our diet. However, for anxiety, you need a product with a high content of cannabidiol, aka CBD, which can also be effectively absorbed into the body.

In most research published online, participants were given CBD orally in the form of hemp CBD oil, or as CBD capsules. There is no evidence as to whether the first or second option is more effective.

However, one thing is certain, the speed of the effect is clearly in favor of CBD oil, which begins to be absorbed almost immediately when you take a few hemp drops under the tongue. You can feel the effects of CBD drops already 10 minutes after application.

CBD dosage for anxiety

As in previous articles, we must emphasize that even when using CBD for anxiety, there is no such thing as a universal dose that you should apply. Dosage of CBD oil is a purely individual matter, which is influenced by a number of factors such as gender, body weight, height, health status, metabolism and others.

The basic rule for CBD (but also CBG, THC, etc.) is to start with a lower dose and gradually increase it if necessary. Usually 10 to 20 milligrams of CBD is recommended to start with. The goal is not to overwhelm our body with cannabinoids, but to find the optimal dose that will help us solve our problem.

Otherwise, we create a tolerance to the intake of cannabinoids, which leads to a decreasing tendency of the desired effect. Among other things, this will unnecessarily burden our wallet, because quality CBD products are not the cheapest. Here, however, it is appropriate to point out that a bottle of hemp CBD oil will last us several months with a reasonable dosage.

CBD drops for anxiety compared to drugs

It is difficult to compare the results of research on the topic of CBD on anxiety with the conclusions of long-term studies of pharmaceutical drugs. There is some evidence to support that CBD products could effectively help in the alternative treatment of anxiety symptoms. However, there are still not enough of them to be able to officially confirm with certainty that this is the case XNUMX%.

However, currently available information confirms our belief that alternative treatment using the natural substance CBD is much gentler for our organism. Its users do not expose themselves to the risk of addiction, in contrast to the use of commercially available medicinal products, which moreover do not solve the core of the problem, but primarily its consequences.

Side effects of CBD on anxiety

Quality CBD products from verified suppliers are completely safe for our body, their use brings almost no side effects. In very rare cases, according to publicly available information, the following negatives can be encountered (when using a few dozen drops):

  • diarrhea
  • fatigue
  • dry mouth
  • dizziness

My personal experience is that I have applied enormous doses of CBD while experimenting and yet experienced none of the above side effects. And not even in the long term. Maybe just a momentary dryness in the mouth, for which a glass of water with lemon helped me a lot. However, if it is not necessary, there is of course no need to overdo it with the CBD dosage.

It should also be mentioned that there is no evidence to suggest that CBD drops can worsen anxiety conditions or related symptoms. So if you decide to try CBD, you definitely have nothing to lose.

Important information at the end: Cannabidiol cannot be overdosed under any circumstances!

CBD drug interactions

We don't yet know much about how CBD can interact with prescription or over-the-counter medications. However, increased attention is needed if you are taking medications whose package leaflet contains a warning about grapefruit, which (like CBD) affects enzymes in the liver.

Medications prescribed for people with anxiety and other related problems (such as insomnia and depression) that carry warnings about possible interactions with grapefruit juice include:

buspirone (BuSpar)
triazolam (Halcion)
fluvoxamine (Luvox)
fluoxetine (Prozac)
quetiapine (Seroquel)
nefazodone (Serzone)
carbamazepine (Tegretol)
trazodone (Desyrel)
diazepam (Valium)
midazolam (Kalceks)
sertraline (Zoloft)

If you are prescribed any of these medications, it is important that you talk to your doctor before starting to use CBD for anxiety. Of course, his attitude towards "alternative" medicine also determines whether the doctor will recommend CBD to you or not. However, you should definitely not stop any prescription drugs without his approval.

Other methods for anxiety

The ability to manage anxiety should not depend solely on medication, whether natural or pharmaceutical. There are several other options for breaking down this unpleasant mental state and at the same time preventing its occurrence.

Psychotherapy

One of the very effective methods is going to therapy with a psychologist, where you can discuss your problem in detail with an expert and together find a way out of an unfavorable situation. Your attending physician can recommend a suitable therapist, or you can simply enter this term into the search engine Google, where you will get an overview of the options in your area within a second.

Movement

Did you know that an hour's walk has the same effect as one dose of antidepressants? Especially with a sedentary job, it is very important to get enough daily exercise to keep our body and mind in good condition.

Breathing exercise

For acute anxiety and stress situations, breathing exercises have proven to be excellent for me, which are used for mental relaxation and also have a beneficial effect on our health. There are a number of them, here is one great exercise for beginners:

Hardening

One of the phenomena of recent times has become hardening, during the practice of which happy hormones, which we call endorphins, flow out. These significantly affect our mood and whether we feel satisfied. During hardening, there is also a significantly higher blood flow to the whole body, which has a positive effect on the proper functioning of our joints and muscles.

Conclusion

In short, taking care of your body and mind every day is the best way to reduce stress levels to a minimum and thus the subsequent occurrence of anxiety states.
