You won't believe it! Sheep in Greece grazed 300 kilograms of hemp and jumped happily!
You may have seen a report in the recent past about sheep from the Greek town of Almyros that were really high! Storm Daniel caused extensive flooding at the scene. According to the World Meteorological Organization, this calamity caused damage in a large part of the central and eastern Mediterranean. Therefore, the sheep sought shelter from the downpour and found a greenhouse full of cannabis!
The aggressive storm, which hit part of the central and eastern Mediterranean, also led to extensive flooding in Libya, Bulgaria and Greece. Torrential downpours led to landslides, destroyed roads and disrupted drinking water supplies. There was a threat to many people and animals, who were looking for a suitable shelter before the fierce downpour, where they could wait out this calamity. A herd of sheep evaluated a nearby cannabis greenhouse as an ideal choice and headed towards it. What happened next?
Excellent shelter in a cannabis greenhouse
When a flock of sheep tried to find shelter from the flooding that followed Storm Daniel, they found a greenhouse literally stuffed with cannabis. This has been legal for medical purposes in Greece since 2017. In 2023, they even opened the first ever medical cannabis plant in Greece. Of course, the sheep didn't wait long for anything, they got inside and started to graze the cannabis plants around them to pass the long time. According to sources from Greek newspapers, they managed to graze almost an incredible 300 kg of cannabis!
While the Greek sheep were in a much better mood from this act and did not make too much of a fuss about the floods, the owner of the hemp farm, who in this way lost everything hemp crop, which was first damaged by the heat and then by torrential rains along with the animals. The owner of the farm found out that something unexpected had happened when, according to him, the sheep started jumping higher than the goats! They say that never happens.
Hemp and marijuana have healing effects that have a beneficial effect on the human body. In animals, however, it is different in the case of high-potency THC cannabis, aka marijuana.
NO Hemp for animals, but CBD!
For the four-legged inhabitants of our planet, classic cannabis with a high THC content is dangerously toxic and causes them very unpleasant conditions. In addition, statistics reveal that in recent years the frequency of poisoning animals with marijuana has increased several times. We should therefore be very careful that our four-legged friends do not have access to such substances.
However, this has nothing to do with special CBD drops and oils, which is produced directly for animals! On the contrary, they can help them deal with stress, anxiety, have an anti-inflammatory effect and help with eczema and itching. When choosing products for our pets, we should choose very carefully and buy only from verified sellers who can guarantee the stated composition.
CBD for dogs
Although research on this topic is still in its infancy, we can read from the studies so far that CBD for dogs can be used as an alternative treatment for pain relief. The effects of CBD are also used for inflammation, nausea, aversion to food and, for example, anxiety. Nowadays, for example, treatment with cannabidiol is being investigated in dogs that suffer from epileptic seizures and are no longer affected by standard treatment.
Possible side effects of CBD for animals
There are currently no scientific studies on the side effects associated with the use of CBD by our pets. However, the potential side effects in animals are expected to be very similar to those seen in humans. However, these are banal side effects such as dry mouth or drowsiness. And that's only if you use high doses of CBD oil. Cannabidiol cannot be overdosed, so there is nothing to worry about. With its use, you also do not expose yourself to the risk of addiction.
