The experts' warnings were not enough! Ban on sale of HHC approved by the government
The government agreed to ban the sale HHC. The definitive statement will come on Wednesday, February 14, when the proposed prohibition will be voted on on the floor of the PS. If approved, hundreds of people will lose their jobs, entrepreneurs and businesses will end up in insolvency, and the state budget will not receive a penny from the billion-dollar market!
In recent weeks, HHC has been discussed in the Czech Republic on all fronts. The reason for this is the simple fact that several teenagers have ended up in the care of doctors after allegedly ingesting HHC gummies. The uninformed youth probably got their hands on the edibles either through an adult friend or because of the unethical approach of the seller there, who was indifferent to age verification.
In both cases, of course, it is very wrong and we are not happy about it in any case. However, we have never sold any products with psychoactive cannabinoids to any minor customer in our stores, and we strongly reject this approach! Awareness is very important to prevent these cases. That is why we are trying to spread it within the legal limits, even though it is somewhat tricky, because according to the current legislation, we are not allowed to provide any specific information about use and dosage.
However, national hysteria is definitely not appropriate, in the following paragraphs we will explain why!
Banning HHC is nonsense - it will quickly be replaced by other cannabis derivatives
This is also one of the pillars of why the law on the regulation of so-called psychomodulating substances, which is in the second reading in the Chamber of Deputies, should be speedily approved, but its further passage is blocked in particular by the People's Party. It should be included in the PML list CBD, HHC and kratom. However, according to the Minister of Health, the approval of the entire legislative process may take several years!! Although it is very paradoxical, the trained doctor Válek is apparently completely unaware that hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) will quickly replace other purely synthetic derivatives of cannabis, about which we have practically no information.

This is also confirmed by the national anti-drug coordinator Jindřich Vobořil. As the biggest Czech expert on drug issues, he considers the criminalization of HHC products that have been freely sold until now to be extremely unfortunate. Among other things, he does not recommend this step either Medical journal. Is it any wonder why the Minister of Health literally ignores the words of experts and insists that HHC should be completely banned immediately? At the same time, it is not difficult to predict the further development of the market, because the mass demand of the public for legal psychoactive cannabinoids will force the manufacturers and sellers of PML to focus on the development of new cannabis derivatives, of which there can be an endless number.
In laboratory conditions, it is enough to slightly change the structure of the molecular formula of a cannabinoid, and a new derivative is born. The effectiveness of the ban on the sale of HHC, THC-P and other psychoactive substances is therefore doomed to fatal failure from the very beginning. In short, it doesn't solve anything well, it just exposes us to a situation where new, unexplored substances appear on the market.
No one died from an overdose!
It should be emphasized that there is not a single known case where an overdose would end fatally, i.e. the death of the user. What's more, many times more people end up in the care of doctors after poisoning with ubiquitous alcohol than after consuming HHC, THC or other cannabinoid substances. For that reason, sensible regulation is in place, as is the case with cigarettes and alcohol. Based on the studies carried out so far, hexahydrocannabinol cannot be considered a particularly dangerous substance, therefore its inclusion on the list of prohibited addictive substances is a completely unjustified step that cannot make sense even to an unbiased, informed person.
What will the ban on HHC bring? Hundreds of people out of work and billions for the black market!
About the absurdity of the upcoming Aleš Kuda, a well-known addictologist, also spoke to CNN Prima News about the prohibition of HHC sales, who has been dealing with addiction and therapy all his life. According to him, the toxicity of HHC is very small compared to alcohol and is definitely not dangerous. In addition, it confirms that HHC products they are used by hundreds of thousands of people without any problems, and this is therefore a purely political step, otherwise we would have to ban even alcohol, which is much more dangerous, within a few days. Thanks to our membership of the Association of Psychomodulating Agents (APPL), we have access to data from 60 registered entities employing hundreds of people in total. These workers are now justifiably worried about their legitimate jobs, which provide them with enough resources to run their households and provide for their families. In addition, if we add up the sales of registered businesses and self-employed people, we reach a figure exceeding half a billion crowns!
And that's just part of the billion-dollar cannabis market, from which VAT, income tax, employee levies and other fees are regularly deducted. If the HHC ban is approved, the state will hand over this money to illegal traders as if on a golden platter. In addition, they lose any ability sale of HHC regulate and prosecute hundreds of thousands of users.
More than 260 companies are responding positively to self-regulation and withdrawing HHC gummies from the menu
Of course, no one disputes that the current way of selling HHC or other psychoactive cannabinoids and kratom is fine. Regulation needs to be introduced so that state institutions have sufficient powers to control the quality of products, enforce compliance with sales only to adults or remove vending machines from the streets, which have long been a thorn in the side. The legislative amendment is in the 2nd reading in the Chamber of Deputies, but somehow it is inexplicably stuck. Once again, KDU-ČSL has the biggest problem with its approval.
Although we now have a completely liberal market, which to date is not restricted in any way, hundreds of manufacturers and sellers of HHC gummies (gelatin candies with hexahydrocannabinol) are reacting to the case concerning the poisoning of minors in the Karlovy Vary Region and withdrawing them from the offer. Of course, we also joined this measure, because together we want to show the public that it is not only about business, but we also fully respect moral and ethical principles.
According to data from APPL, we can confirm that more than 260 HHC edibles sellers have already joined this process. The national anti-drug coordinator Jindřich Vobořil also called for self-regulation, who fortunately kept his common sense and does not want to punish hundreds of responsible sellers across the board for the misdeeds of individuals. For that, he deserves our heartfelt thanks!
