The Big Cannabinoid Review, Part 3: Which Cannabigerol Is Most Important?
We all admire the therapeutic effects of CBD, which we place in the category of cannabidiols, which we discussed in part 2 of our hemp cannabinoid atlas. However, it must be added that CBD, THC, or any of the other remarkable substances found in hemp would not exist without the existence of cannabigerols, which are the basic building blocks for all other compounds! That's why we dedicate this part to them, where we will mainly deal with them CBG.

However, some still remain hidden, which is why we decided to introduce you to the world of hemp cannabinoids in more detail thanks to our series, which describes individual groups of elements. This is the third article in a row, which this time will deal with cannabigerols, the best-known representative of which is CBG. So that you don't have to scroll and search in previous articles, we will first remind you what hemp cannabinoids actually are.
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are all organic chemical compounds that the cannabis plant contains. A great interest is the fact that cannabinoids are not only found in nature in cannabis, but also in breast milk, for example. Their sufficient supply is very important for the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Especially when the body is unable to produce these compounds on its own due to a disruption of the natural balance. This can be reflected in mood swings, but also in our state of health. This group includes not only CBD, THC and several other well-known elements, but more than 100 similar related compounds.
Cannabigerols
As we mentioned in the very introduction; cannabigerols are the basic building block of all cannabinoids, so we cannot ignore them. In our overview, you can look at the characteristics of cannabigerol itself, its other variants and individual acids that are closely related to CBG. In the organic form of the hemp plant, it is found in very low amounts, therefore hemp is specially bred to be able to achieve higher CBG content. Although it is a minor cannabinoid, it is very important, because it is from it that other cannabinoids such as CBD and THC are boiled down to their final form during growth.

Effects of CBG
Although psychoactive cannabinoids are developed from cannabigerol or CBGA (cannabigerolic acid), this "core" component of cannabis has no psychoactive effects. However, it can offer many other benefits. CBG can be described as a specialist in sleep problems, because thanks to its significant dampening effects, it can contribute to calming the mind and body. In addition, it has a remarkable analgesic effect. In these respects, it is a more potent relative of CBD, which is otherwise very versatile.
The basic characteristics of the effects of CBG look roughly like this:
- chronic pain relief
- improving the quality of sleep
- help with anxiety and depression
- has an anti-inflammatory effect
- supports the immune system
- reduces appetite
- and many others.
Cannabigerol aka CBG is constantly undergoing scientific research, some of which suggests that it may be a welcome aid in the fight against certain types of cancer. However, this has not yet been sufficiently confirmed, however the initial information obtained looks very promising. CBD hemp is also known for its beneficial effect on suppressing the side effects of chemotherapy, this is already a confirmed fact. It should be the same with CBG.
