Study on HHC products: How do individuals perceive them?

We contacted 109 volunteers who use HHC products. The vast majority of them agree that HHC has significantly more positive than negative effects. According to the participants of the study, they most often use them for pain relief or for psychological problems.

The dynamic development of the market for hemp products has brought new and new products with different cannabinoids every year in recent years. The most popular over-the-counter substance is currently HHC, or hexahydrocannabinol. Opinions on this psychoactive cannabinoid are often diametrically opposed. And that both from the point of view of the general public and among the experts themselves. We don't have much scientific knowledge about HHC yet, so we decided that we will reach out to individuals who use HHC products to comment on this topic and shared their personal experiences with us.

What were the most common answers? And what are the main reasons why consumers use psychoactive cannabinoid products? How many of those surveyed experienced such strong negative effects that they were deterred from further use? Let's look at the results of this study together!

HHC products through the eyes of the users themselves

The main purpose of this study was to find out how the effects of HHC are felt by their direct consumers, so that we can conclude to what extent the claims about the potential danger of this substance are true. A total of 109 adults took part in the study. The condition for recording the responses from the questionnaire and showing them in the study result was that the given individual had personal experience with the application of hexahydrocannabinol contained in a cannabis product in the last 6 months.

Results of the study

Women and men of all age groups answered the question, among other things, how often HHC products they use. The findings show that most of them apply HHC quite often, as the specific average from the answers of all those interviewed is based on 1 use every 10 days. According to those interviewed, the main reason why this happens is the positive effect of hexahydrocannabinol on the suppression of pain or bad mental mood, especially anxiety. However, in the case of using HHC for anxiety, it is necessary to pay extra attention, because in higher doses, hexahydrocannabinol can, on the contrary, make anxiety worse!

The majority of research participants commented that in the case of HHC products, the positive effects clearly prevail over the negative ones. The most frequently described beneficial effect was the ability to provide deep relaxation and a state of euphoria. As for negative effects, they were reported by only 17% of the total number of participants. About 20% of people who answered this way no longer use HHC products because of side effects. Some of them experienced some withdrawal symptoms in the absence of HHC use, while the majority did not.

Data needed on the effects of HHC

There is a critical lack of scientific knowledge about the long-term use of HHC and its possible effects on the body. For this reason, this study could contribute to a faster clarification of questions about what HHC products really are. In terms of potential therapeutic effects, it gives us some insight behind the "curtain". So far, unfortunately, it is only a drop in the ocean, however, each further study of this focus can bring us closer to the possible positive and negative effects of using hexahydrocannabinol.
