Although Speciociliatin is not a well-known substance, together with more than four dozen other alkaloids, they form the specific and sought-after abilities of kratom.
This article describes speciociliatine, focusing primarily on its position among other alkaloids, as well as exploring its hidden potential and how it fits into the complex puzzle of kratom.

It is one of the naturally occurring alkaloids in the leaves of the Mitragyna speciosa tree, otherwise also kratom, biak or, for example, kakum. Each of the alkaloids in kratom leaves has its own unique function, but it is only the whole that makes kratom such a sought-after article. Speciociliatin is not as well known as, for example, mitragynine or 7-hydroxymitragynine, but it also plays a very important role in the composition of kratom.
There are many alkaloids in the leaves of the Mitragyna speciosa tree, scientists have even discovered more than forty of them. Speciociliatin is, according to current information, very related to mitragynine, the most abundant and best-known alkaloid in kratom. However, how do these substances work together and what are the effects of speciociliatin on the human body?
One of the key functions of this alkaloid is to moderate the effects of kratom. It works synergistically in this process with mitragynine, which has pain relief and stimulating effects as its main effects. Speciociliatin regulates these effects and helps to balance them.
Different strains have different alkaloid profiles, therefore it is more than clear that the content of speciociliatin will also affect the overall alkaloid profile and its percentage representation will determine the final effects of the given strain.
For example, let's take red kratom, which has a higher content of speciociliatin, which is why relaxing to sedative effects prevail in this strain. In contrast, for example, green strains will have a more balanced alkaloid content, resulting in improved mental well-being and stimulating effects.
Speciociliatin has a threefold binding affinity to one of the opioid receptors compared to mitragynine. Mitragynine acts as a partial agonist on these receptors and has analgesic effects.
Based on these findings, anecdotal studies found that in combination these two alkaloids can very promisingly replace other opioid substances. In addition, these alkaloids also showed activity in the treatment of various diseases, but in this respect it is still only conjecture. For further information, we still have to wait for the evaluation of the currently ongoing research.
This substance is found only in the leaves of the Mitragyna speciosa tree and researchers have not yet found it in any other plant in nature, as is the case with most other alkaloids. There are currently conjectures about the potential effects of this alkaloid, but according to the latest findings, it contributes to mood improvement and relaxation.
Like all alkaloids in general, this particular one must be subjected to further studies, and it is also up to scientists to find out what long-term effects these substances in kratom can have with regular use.
