HHC vs. HHC-P: How different are these substances?
HHC has been experiencing a huge boom in the last two years and its sales are constantly increasing. In addition, new cannabis derivatives are emerging that compete well with the psychoactive HHC. One of them is HHC-P, which, however, is many times stronger! We shed some light on the HHC vs HHC-P comparison.
Cannabis we already introduced the HHC-P derivative in detail in one of the older articles. But how is it when it comes to comparison with the already well-known HHC? In today's article, we will therefore take a closer look at the similar properties and differences of these two psychoactive substances.
There is no time to waste, let's introduce these cannabinoids right away!
What is HHC?
Hexahydrocannabinol is a cannabinoid found in the wild in the hemp plant. However, it is a trace amount, so this substance is not extracted directly from hemp, but is created by hydrogenation (adding hydrogen) to, for example, delta-9-THC. The first to discover this substance was none other than Roger Adams, the discoverer of the very popular cannabidiol (CBD).
HHC is a psychoactive substance. Some sources say it can help prevent tumor growth in breast cancer in women. However, this information is not confirmed. In addition, HHC can reduce pain, which was confirmed, for example, by one study in 2007. However, this research, like many others, has so far been conducted on animals, not on humans. However, since hexahydrocannabinol has a significant sedative effect, it is almost certain to have an analgesic effect. This is the domain of cannabis as such.
According to experienced users, the effects of HHC are very similar to classic marijuana with THC content. Users experience relief from muscle pain and mental and physical well-being that turns into euphoria.
What is HHCP?
It is a cannabinoid that was discovered relatively recently, specifically in 2019. Therefore, we can only find an absolute minimum of studies and sources of information about it. Its full name is hexahydrocannabiphorol and its molecular structure is very similar to HHC. The main difference between the two derivatives is the fact that HHC-P is most likely not found in the wild. Hexahydrocannabiphorol is obtained by isomerization. It is a process where one molecule is converted into an isomer with a different structure. Thanks to this process, we can change the structure of cannabinoids and thus new substances can be created.
There are currently not enough studies in the area of HHC-P research, so most knowledge is based on its chemical composition and previous experience and studies conducted on similar cannabinoids. HHC-P is mostly sold in the form of cartridges or foams, but we can also meet with flowers or edibles.
Effects of HHC-P
As you may have noticed, the effects of HHC-P are several times stronger than those of HHC. This is most likely due to its longer side chain, which will improve receptor response. Regarding the specific effects, the findings so far differ in relatively many aspects. Yes, they agree that hexahydrocannabiphorol can put us in a "high" state, that's probably a non-negotiable issue.
However, for example, in the quality of sleep, we can observe either a significant improvement or the exact opposite. It is therefore possible, as is the case with many other substances, that each person will react diametrically differently to HHC-P. Therefore, it is always recommended to start only with a small dose and adjust the dose according to the effects. We believe that HHC-P can improve sleep in smaller doses, but in excessive amounts it can cause insomnia.
As for other effects, they are most likely very similar to those of HHC:
- feelings of happiness and euphoria
- pain relief
- stress reduction
- potential improvement in both mental and physical health
- help for depression (not suitable for anxiety!)
We must keep in mind that the effects of HHC-P are many times stronger compared to HHC. Most sources speak of a 10-fold increase, so a significantly lower dose should be sufficient to achieve the desired effect. The popularity of psychoactive cannabinoids is more than obvious. They can change our consciousness and mediate extraordinary moments. However, it is always appropriate to act with caution and respect.
Side effects of HHCP
Every coin has two sides, so we must also mention the negatives and side effects of HHCP. Most likely, this is the strongest cannabis derivative that can be found on the market. We must therefore also inform you about the negatives that this derivative can bring:
- rapid heartbeat
- red eyes
- excessive appetite
- dry mouth
- anxiety and paranoia (after high doses)
Cannabis derivatives and legislation
Both HHC and HHC-P are legal substances. The only restriction so far in hemp products is the THC content, which must not exceed 1%. Therefore, the unregulated market is a big problem in this area. There are cases where cannabis sellers have sold low-quality products with falsely stated ingredients in an attempt to maximize their earnings. And unfortunately, they most likely still exist today. No controls are yet carried out in the Czech Republic for the content of cannabinoids, therefore we recommend buying only from reputable sellers who guarantee the appropriate composition and quality.
In 2024, this problem should be solved by the upcoming state regulation, but it is not yet clear how exactly the circumstances of the sale of CBD and HHC will change, as the bill is still hotly debated.
HHC vs. HHCP
And now we finally get to the actual comparison of the above cannabinoids.
Effects of
As we have already mentioned, the effects of these two derivatives are very similar, just as they are similar to the effects of THC. The effects of HHCP are most often compared to the 10-fold action of HHC. However, some sources speak of up to 30 times more efficiency! Of course, it will always depend on the purity and composition of the distillate, i.e. the product itself. The higher effectiveness is attributed to the longer side chain in the chemical formula.
If we were to focus on the comparison of duration of effects, HHC-P would again emerge victorious from the fight. The effects of this derivative are significantly longer and more intense. AT modern cannabis derivatives however, we still have de facto no credible studies on longer-term effects on the human organism.
Occurrence
HHC was discovered in the 40s directly in cannabis, from which it was later isolated. On the other hand, the occurrence of hexahydrocannabiphorol alias HHC-P in cannabis has not yet been proven, so it is modified and produced synthetically.
Conclusion
Thus, we have described that the similarities between HHC and HHCP occur primarily in the nature of their effects, but their strength and duration differ considerably. If you have no experience with hemp products yet, you should be cautious when making your initial choice. Please do not forget that only verified sellers will provide you with quality products without unwanted additives and solvent residues.
