However, there is a significant difference in their effect on the organism. Although legal CBD hemp boasts great therapeutic effects that are scientifically confirmed, it won't make your head spin. Flowers with a high CBD cannabinoid content do not provide any psychoactive effect.

If we go deeper, we find that these are the flowers of specially bred plants that have a high content of the cannabinoid CBD, after which they are named. Cannabidiol (CBD) has a relaxing and anti-inflammatory effect on our body. It can help with stress management, have a positive effect on the quality of sleep and be an effective helper in the fight against anxiety or depression.

As mentioned above, the content THC in CBD hemp is only trace. It is so low that it is not detectable after ingestion even by classic tests for the presence of drugs. There is a general belief in society that cannabis and CBD flowers they are not one and the same. But the opposite is true, as both substances have the Cannabis sativa family tree. What differentiates them is the dominance of individual cannabinoids. (CBD vs. THC)

Cannabidiol CBD is found in organic form in every Cannabis sativa plant. However, if it is not the mentioned specially bred varieties, its percentage occurrence tends to be minor. The turning point came several decades ago, when experts in the field of cannabis cultivation succeeded in breeding plants with a high concentration of CBD. Today, hemp varieties with a higher CBD content and low THC content are almost as common as varieties with a high content of tetrahydrocannabinol, aka THC.

Terpenes in cannabis

There are many different types of vegetable oils found in the hemp plant. In general, these natural oils can be labeled as cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids.

Terpenes are named after the strongly aromatic compounds in cannabis flowers that influence its effects. They are characterized by a unique taste and offer a wide range of unmistakable aromas. In the plant kingdom, terpenes and flavonoids it is not only found in cannabis flowers, but in a whole range of other plant species.

Hemp terpenes have a very strong aroma and each individual terpene has its own unique flavor. However, aroma and flavor do not always match. The exact ratio of terpenes in hemp CBD flowers can even change the way cannabis affects our body. The best-known representatives from the terpene class include Karyophyllene, Myrcene or Limonene.

The aroma of CBD flowers

Now let's take a look at how specific types of terpenes smell in cannabis flowers:

• Caryophyllene: It smells woody or like cloves, it is very common.
• myrcene: Thanks to it, we can feel the typical freshness and moisture of cannabis, it is also found in mangoes, for example.
• limonene: As the name suggests, it is characterized by a fruity citrus taste, found in citrus peels.
• pinene: A terpene with a distinct aroma of pine, it can also be found in pine
• humulene: It also has a distinctive woody aroma, but on the contrary, it is found in some deciduous trees.
• Linalool: The unmistakable floral aroma is provided by Linalool, which is present, for example, in lavender.

The terpene profile of CBD hemp

We have already familiarized ourselves with the main types of terpenes and their aromas in the previous paragraph. We know what the terpenes in cannabis smell like. But how do they taste?

• Caryophyllene: The flavor of this terpene is quite sharp and probably most similar to peppermint.
• myrcene: It tastes very similar to what it smells like. that it has the closest taste to mango.
• limonene: You would probably expect it to be sour like citrus juice. The opposite is true, Limonene is a relatively sweet terpene.
• pinene: This terpene has a somewhat earthy to minty flavor.
• humulene: It also tastes earthy, but it also has a strong hop undertone.
• Linalool: It is characterized by a light and fresh taste. It is really very close to lavender.

Types of cannabis

The cannabis plant, a remarkable medicinal herb, is divided into three basic types. Apart from them, however, we can also meet a large number of hybrids. Some varieties of cannabis stand out for their high content of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, but can cause intoxication of the body. They induce states where you feel "high" and carefree, but every coin has two sides. They're illegal—possessing them can get you in trouble with the law, lose your driver's license, or put you at risk of addiction.

The cannabis we are interested in is particularly low in THC. However, it is rich in other cannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD) or cannabigerol (CBG). It does not cause drowsiness, yet it has significant therapeutic effects and enjoys worldwide popularity. Cannabis sativa: cannabis and marijuana

Cannabis sativa is undoubtedly the most widespread type of cannabis.

To date, hundreds of different strains of this species have been recorded. Some with a high THC content, which we call marijuana, others with a very low psychoactive THC content, which we classify as cannabis.

Indian hemp, also known as Cannabis indica, originates from a colder climate zone - specifically from Central Asia, from the northern region of the Himalayas and the Hindu Kush.

This type of cannabis had to develop not only a greater tolerance to the cold, but also had to adapt to a shorter growing season. Therefore, the flowering time of cannabis is much shorter than other types of cannabis. Cannabis indica plants do not grow very tall. They usually grow up to 1 meter in height.

However, they stand out for their bushy structure with dense inflorescences. At the same time, they have a large amount of hemp resin, which contains well-known and lesser-known cannabinoids such as THC, CBD, CBG, CBN and other active substances.

For growing cannabis indoors, aka indoor, this species is best suited, as it does not reach such a height as Cannabis sativa, to which the previous paragraph is dedicated. Indica cannabis strains with a high THC content are particularly popular for their very strong psychoactive effects. However, they are also widely used for medicinal purposes.

C: autoflowering cannabis

Cannabis ruderalis, from which autoflowering cannabis plants are bred, is a lesser-known type of cannabis. Although this plant is small in stature, it stands out for its large yields of cannabis flowers. The uniqueness of the cannabis variety called ruderalis lies in its ability to flower automatically regardless of the light period.

The time period for which it is set is more important for her. Cannabis of this type does not need a long exposure to light, so it can flower at any time of the year. Autoflowering cannabis varieties have a life cycle of 2-3 months on average, so they can be harvested several times a year.

Cannabidiol can be found in nature in many forms of cannabis. Here are the most common examples of cannabis flowers with CBD:

CBD flowers it comes from a non-intoxicating form of the cannabis plant. So it could be said that it is one and the same thing. However, the predominant cannabinoid in such a herb is CBD cannabidiol, not THC, which is why we call them CBD flowers. Although CBD hemp produces flowers just like marijuana, they do not have any psychoactive effects. It has a purely therapeutic effect on the organism.

CBD flowers with THC

In countries where a higher limit for the content of tetrahydrocannabinol in hemp is permissible, it is possible to buy CBD flowers with a psychoactive component. We can most often come across varieties containing CBD and THC in a 1:1 ratio. According to professional publications, this ratio is ideal for patients using medicinal cannabis within the framework healing procedures. We would certainly not recommend these flowers to anyone for recreational use, as THC is addictive and can exacerbate psychosis, even though it is legal in certain countries (especially some US states). Therefore, unless absolutely necessary, it is best to avoid it altogether.

CBD flowers without THC

CBD flowers containing only trace amounts of THC, you can also find on our e-shop, as its content does not exceed 0.3% of the weight of hemp dry matter. Any cannabis containing an amount above the specified limit is considered marijuana and is illegal.

CBD flowers with almost zero THC content still have many advantages. However, we would like to point out that in the Czech Republic this type of cannabis can only be sold for agricultural, industrial, botanical or collector purposes. That is why all the hemp products we sell have the label "collector's item" = they are not intended for consumption.

ATTENTION! The Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic passed an amendment regulating the permissible content of THC in hemp to 1% of the dry weight. The president has already signed this amendment. The law is therefore approved and should enter into force on 1.1.2022 January 2022!

 

Full Spectrum CBD flowers

Some types of CBD products have been processed to contain only a single cannabinoid. Most often we can meet isolated CBD extract, which looks like a white powder. This processing process removes some of the natural parts of the herbal extract. CBD flowers they are full spectrum in any case, because they contain all the organic oils that are found in the inflorescence of Cannabis sativa - whether they are cannabinoids, terpenes or flavonoids, which we talked about today.

Organic CBD flowers

It is about CBD flowers grown organically. Organic methods of growing cannabis are much more gentle and the CBD flowers grown in this way are usually of better quality. Fertilizers and pesticides in the soil accumulate toxins and other unwanted substances that can accumulate in the hemp plant, which acts as a bioaccumulator. Companies that focus on organic and sustainable hemp cultivation produce safer CBD.

 

The strongest CBD flowers

In the early days of CBD-rich hemp breeding, it was a very rare phenomenon to find a strain containing more than 10% CBD. However, time has progressed and today we can see types of cannabis with this content almost regularly. If we take into account the limit of THC content of 1%, which is legal for example in Switzerland and will soon be in our republic, we can find CBD flowers with content climbing up to 20% CBD. With a THC concentration of less than 0,3%, such a strain cannot be grown! If a trader offers cannabis flowers with these parameters, then the CBD content is artificially increased by an isolate or his offer is simply deceptive.
